Absolutely, and it could be electric or acoustic! We ask that you also bring a 3-ring binder and/or notepad. We provide the music and the chairs. :o) Need some help finding a guitar?
Yes, each semester will end with a very relaxed, informal recital with a “real” jazz rhythm section! There may be other opportunities to play, depending on schedules and interest.
This class will take you on a journey through the history of Jazz guitar. Explore important styles of playing from different eras and experience hands on performance with transcriptions of important solos from the masters. Touching on the likes of Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Jim Hall, John Scofield and many more, you will experience what made these players so special with some stylistic analysis, as well as taking in rare video and audio footage.
