The best age to start is very similar to guitar lessons although ukulele and mandolin instruments are great for younger students due to their size. Electric bass is best started when the student is big enough to hold the instrument.
Absolutely! Some ukuleles are notorious for being poor quality, so be cautious there. This isn't as common with mandolins and basses.
